At its production site in Shunde, China, the company has established high standards for product quality, process efficiency and workplace safety, and is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949. Freudenberg Apollo provides filtration solutions for a wide variety of applications including air-conditioners, refrigerators, room air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, automobiles, kitchen facilities, humidifiers, HVAC equipment, medical purifiers, water purifiers, printers and copy machines.
Freudenberg Apollo was founded in July 2000 by the Apollo Trading Corporation, Japan, as Shunde Apollo Air-Cleaner. Because of the excellent overall strength, management, advanced technology, and most importantly the excellent products, services and solutions of Apollo, the company became the top priority for support by the local government. In 2004, with vigorous support from the government, Apollo became the first company to enter the National High-Tech Park in the Shunde District, which covers an area of 17.000㎡ and has a building area of 26.000㎡. Apollo was approved as "Guangdong High-Tech Enterprise" in November 2004 and in December 2008 as "National High-Tech Enterprise". In 2017, Apollo reached sales of 750 million RMB (approximately 96 million EUR) and employed approximately 1,000 people. Since April 2019, Apollo has been a joint venture between the Apollo Trading Group, Japan, and Freudenberg, known under the name Freudenberg Apollo Filtration Technologies. In May 2021, Freudenberg Apollo inaugurated its new Shunde plant in Wusha Industrial Park, covering an area of 55,000 m² with a floor space of 65,000 m², marking a higher level of automation and intelligent manufacturing plant.

Freudenberg Apollo has invested tens of millions of dollars in their state-of-the-art R&D and Testing Lab facility. Freudenberg Apollo has imported the most advanced equipment and instruments, LC – MS, ICP - MS, GC – MS, from all around the world, including the USA, Germany, and Japan. The lab currently has over 150 different pieces of equipment. The team consists of specialists in numerous sciences, which can provide the best in material research and performance validation. Freudenberg Apollo is able to analyze and test to all major global standards, including USA´s ANSI/AHAM, UL standard, European EN standard, German DIN standard, Japan JIS standard/JEM, and GB standards. There are 29 different specific testing protocols used to provide continuous support for product development, product design, and quality assurance. In 2017, Apollo´s facility became the 1st air-purification testing lab to be approved as a CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) certified testing facility.
Freudenberg Apollo passed ISO9001 international quality management system certification in November 2001, ISO14001 international environmental management system certification in January 2010, and IATF16949 automotive industry quality management system certification in August 2018. Freudenberg Apollo embraces a complete focus on quality and applies numerous Japanese manufacturing and quality control processes and procedures. Freudenberg Apollo also employs outside consultants from Japan to provide guidance and support for the various teams throughout the organization.
